LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah - Two hikers are safe after being rescued in Little Cottonwood Canyon overnight.
Unified Police said the pair started hiking Monday at about 6 a.m. near Tanner Flats.
Officials said the pair got lost and disoriented and sent out an electronic emergency message with a GPS device called "SPOT."
The device sends out a signal allowing rescuers to track your exact location.
One man was able to hike out on his own, the other had to be flown out by a DPS helicopter near Lisa Falls.
Rescuers said the man was suffering from a cut on his leg and hypothermia.
Officials said because of the hikers' GPS device, it saved a lot of time when searching for the missing men.
Crews said what could have been a six-hour operation only took two hours to rescue the hikers.
