SALT LAKE CITY -- Currently, former BYU guard Tyler Haws is listed as going undrafted on June 25, but that does not mean he is not getting his fair share of workouts.

On Monday, Haws was with the Utah Jazz and within following days he will be headed to California to work out with a team that is going to the NBA Finals, the Golden State Warriors.

"This is a crazy process, but I am grateful that I had the opportunity to come and work out for the Jazz," Haws said. "Great organization, great guys, and I thought I did well."

During this process, Haws said, he has had the support of all his old coaches. Mark Pope, former BYU assistant coach who is now the head coach for the UVU men's basketball team, had the opportunity to watch Haws work out with the Jazz.

"I talk to them every day about what's going on," Haws said about his former coaches and family. "There are certain things that I am trying to prove. I am trying to prove that I can score from the three point line, my game is more of the mid-range game. But, I am a scorer and I believe I can help any team score and I am trying to prove that."

Being the all-time leading scorer at BYU, the Jazz are not concerned about Haws' ability to score - it is his ability to defend players who are a couple inches taller than him.

"That would be extremely tough," Walt Perrin, Utah Jazz VP of player personnel, said. "I am more worried for someone that is 6'4" or 6'5" for him right now."

But, Haws is willing to keep his options open. The NBA, like every other player, is his dream, but he is not counting out the D-league or playing in Europe.

"I am just trying to keep all of my options open. Obviously, the main goal is to play in the NBA and I feel like I can play there," Haws said about the future. "I feel like my game fits well and I can be of value to some team."

Haws will work out with the Los Angeles Lakers on June 3 and the Golden State Warriors on June 6.
