Report finds Utah one of worst states to raise kids

SALT LAKE CITY–  A new report from the Institute for Women’s Policy Research has ranked the best and worst states to raise children in. Bad news for the Beehive State– Utah received an F. In fact, Utah was ranked the second worst place to raise children, only behind Indiana.

The information is based on which states support working parents.  Researchers looked at paid leave, dependent and elder care, child care, and the gender gap in the labor force.

According to the report, the best states:

1. New York

2. California

3. District of Columbia

4. New Jersey

5. Rhode Island

And the worst states:

47. Wyoming

48. Mississippi

49. Montana

50. Utah

51. Indiana
