SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Health Department officials have issued a boil order for everyone using water from the Oakley City Water System Wednesday after water samples failed quality tests.

Katie Mullaly, Summit County Health Department, said the public water system in the Oakley area failed two water quality tests for bacteria, and as a result they are purifying the system. It was not clear specifically which type or types of bacteria were found.

The water will be tested again Thursday, but until it passes the tests residents must boil the water before drinking or cooking with the water. Mullaly said they have notified the residents effected by the boil order.
