Charges filed against SLC day care worker accused of sexually abusing children

SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake City man has been formally charged after admitting to police that he inappropriately touched three young girls at the home day care he and his wife run.

Mark Nigh, 57, faces nine first-degree felony counts of sodomy upon a child and nine first-degree felony counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

According to a charging document, police began investigating Nigh after one of the alleged victims, age 3, told her father that Nigh touched her vagina.

Police contacted Nigh, who admitted that he touched the girl on three different occasions, the document states.

The charging document also indicates that Nigh admitted to touching two other girls, ages 3 and 2, on three separate occasions while he was babysitting at the home day care.

Nigh was booked into Salt Lake County Jail. Bail has been increased to $500,000 from $150,000.
