SALT LAKE CITY – Many Utahns can expect to see rain Saturday, and portions of the Uintah Mountains could see snow as the majority of the Beehive State is either under a Hazardous Weather Outlook or a Winter Weather Advisory.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, the Winter Weather Advisory applies to the eastern Uintah Mountains of northeast Utah and the mountains of Western Colorado. An earlier advisory applied to portions of the Wasatch Front, but as of about 3:30 p.m. the area under advisory shifted.

Areas of high elevation included in the advisory could see snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches, mostly above 9,000 feet. Snow is expected  through late Sunday afternoon and the heaviest snow is expected Saturday evening.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the western two-thirds of Utah and southwest Wyoming, including Cache Valley, the northern and southern Wasatch Front, the Salt Lake and Tooele Valleys and central and southwest Utah.  Rain is expected in the lower elevations, and isolated thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon and early evening.

Precipitation is expected to continue Sunday, mainly over the northern and central mountains as well as the eastern outlook area, though that will taper off Sunday afternoon.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook states a significant warming trend is forecast for the beginning of next week and isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible.
