DRAPER, Utah –The Uinta Facility at the Utah State Prison in Draper was placed on lockdown for several hours Saturday in response to two separate stabbings that occurred, but officials said normal visiting schedules will resume on Sunday now that the lock down has been lifted.

According to a press release from the Utah Department of Corrections, the first incident was at about 6:30 a.m., and one inmate stabbed another during recreation time. One inmate was treated at the prison infirmary for injuries described as being not life-threatening.

The second incident occurred in a cell in a different section of the Uinta Facility just before 8 a.m. when two inmates began fighting. One inmate was stabbed numerous times, and after initially being treated at the infirmary he was transported to the University Medical Center by ambulance. The man’s injuries are described as being not life-threatening.

Specific details about the sequence of events leading up to the stabbings were not provided in the press release, and the names of those involved have not been released.

Officials sent an email around 4:24 p.m. stating the lockdown had been lifted and that normal visitation schedules would be resumed Sunday.
