SALT LAKE CITY — After months of anticipation, tickets for the Utah production of the “Book of Mormon” musical will finally go on sale to the general public on Monday.

The rowdy Broadway musical by the creators of “South Park” are bringing the show about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Salt Lake City, the global headquarters of the Mormon faith. The show’s appearance here has raised some eyebrows, but also created demand for the smash-hit show, which won nine Tony Awards.

ArtTix, the agency that will be selling tickets to “Book of Mormon” musical, said in a statement Thursday that ticket sales to the general public will begin April 20 at 10 a.m. at its outlets, online and over the phone. Season ticket holders to “Broadway Across America” have had access to pre-sales.

ArtTix declined to discuss how ticket sales have been in Utah. Performances are scheduled to begin July 28.
