SALT LAKE CITY -- Hundreds of Utahns will drop, cover and hold Thursday during a statewide emergency drill known as the Great Utah Shakeout, and on Wednesday an expert came to the FOX 13 News Studio to discuss the earthquake drill and general emergency preparedness tips.

See the video above for some emergency preparedness tips from Joe Dougherty of the Utah Division of Emergency Management, and click here for more details on the Great Utah Shakeout.

Dougherty said many emergency preparedness tips and resources can be found at Be Ready Utah's website, and he also encouraged people to download smart phone apps, suggesting the app from FEMA as well as several put out by the American Red Cross and one called FloodWatch.
