Sen. Jim Dabakis (D-Salt Lake City)

SALT LAKE CITY — If you try to search for Sen. Jim Dabakis’ campaign website for Salt Lake City mayor, you will wind up at the site of one of his opponents.

The domain names JimDabakis.com and DabakisforMayor.com redirect to the website for one of his opponents, former state Rep. Jackie Biskupski.

Whomever owns the website domain names is a mystery, but it appears they were snapped up around the time Dabakis announced he would jump into the Salt Lake City Mayor’s race. The Biskupski campaign denies they had anything to do with the domains.

“Neither we or anyone affiliated with our campaign had anything to do with this,” the Biskupski campaign said in a statement to FOX 13.

Dabakis didn’t seem offended.

“Good for her,” Dabakis, D-Salt Lake City, chuckled on Monday. “All’s fair. It made me laugh.”

Dabakis said he is beginning to put together his campaign for Salt Lake City. He told FOX 13 on Monday that he had hired a campaign manager, Kurt Bagley, and is putting together a campaign team. His own website, MayorDabakis.com, is expected to be unveiled soon.

Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker is seeking his third-term, facing an August primary against Biskupski, Dabakis and councilman Luke Garrott.
