SALT LAKE CITY —  A man who was found guilty of murder in connection with the death of 16-year-old Kenyatta Winston was given his sentence Monday.

Frank Reyos, 33, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole and a sentence of 1-15 years for possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.

“We’ll never see Kenyatta again, but this is somewhat of a victory for us and we can continue with the process of closure,” said Norvert Winston, the victim’s father, in an interview with FOX 13 Monday. “Part of our life has been taken away, and it’s not the easiest thing to deal with.”

In October 2014, a jury found Reyos guilty of killing Winston in September 2012. Winston’s body was found in a vacant field between Crandall and Zenith Avenues (near 2900 S and 1100 E).

Reyos, a known gang member, has previously served time in prison for aggravated robbery and the Salt Lake Area Metro Gang Unit named him public enemy #1 in 2009.
