PROVO, Utah -- Spring football is officially over for the Cougars. Though there are five months until the start of the 2015 season, head coach Bronco Mendenhall said there is a lot to look forward to in the coming year.

“We have a good team and we have a really tough schedule, so that is a fantastic opportunity," Mendenhall said about the coming year. "[We have] a senior quarterback coming back that is one of the best in the country and an offense that scored most points since 2001. Really good leadership, I think, on the defensive side in a proven system with a proven staff. So, it could be a really fun year.”

Taysom Hill, without his brace, looks ready for the season and says the work that’s being done on offense is exciting.

“It's certainly not where we need to be or where we will be come fall, but I thought we made some great strides in the passing game this spring," Hill said about his offense. "With guys like Mitch Mathews and Devon and Nick Kurtz, it’s hard not to be good in the passing game.”

For former BYU quarterback Christian Stewart, this spring has been unlike any other. When QB McCoy Hill was injured during spring play, they needed Stewart to come back and practice with the team despite his four years being spent.

“It’s been fun to just come out here and play football for the love of the game, no pressure, no stress, and just play how I like to play," Stewart said about the opportunity to still play with the team. "Just throw the ball around, it’s just been a really rewarding experience.”

What’s next for Stewart?

“A whole month studying for the GMAT, take the GMAT at the end of May, get married the beginning of June, move to San Francisco the beginning of July and kind of start my life that way.”

Fall camp starts at the beginning of August. Their season opener is on Saturday, September 5 in Lincoln, Nebraska against the Cornhuskers.
