SALT LAKE CITY – Authorities are investigating after plumber was attacked and robbed while reporting to a job Friday.

The plumber, who advertises in the classifieds online, said he got a request for work at a home near 1100 E. and Princeton.

He said the caller asked if he could arrive at about 9:45 p.m. because they worked during the day.

When the plumber arrived, he said a man led him to the backyard where another man was waiting.

Officials said both men beat the plumber and took his keys but didn’t get away with his car.

Salt Lake police said this is an unusual event and officers are warning service providers to take precautions.

“If you’re a service provider where you’re an electrician or a plumber or a contractor, you want to let people know where you`re going and just kind of be leery,” SLC Det. Cody Lougy said. “Unfortunately, these kind of individuals are out there.”

Authorities are searching for two suspects who are described as Caucasian men in their late thirties or early forties.

Police said one man was about 6-feet-tall and the other was slightly shorter.
