SOUTH JORDAN, Utah -- Friends and family are mourning the loss of a South Jordan man who died due to injuries suffered in a car crash earlier this week, and supporters gathered Sunday for a candlelight vigil.

Utah Highway Patrol said 22-year old Chanel Nielsen was driving the wrong direction on I-215 near 1300 East when she collided with 27-year old Michael McMillian Wednesday. Nielsen died at the scene, and McMillian suffered critical injuries and passed away Friday.

Sunday, close friends surprised McMillian’s parents with a candle light vigil at his South Jordan home.

“Family was huge,” the man’s cousin, John McMillian said. “He was always around his brothers, he was the oldest of three. And that’s what he and I had in common, we always liked to just spend time together with the family.”

His friends and family celebrated his life tonight with pictures and by sharing memories.
