SALT LAKE CITY — Governor Gary Herbert signed a series of new bills into law, including one that creates a first-of-its-kind “White Collar Crime registry.”

House Bill 378 creates a registry that works a lot like a sex-offender registry, but for convicted fraudsters.

“Whether a criminal wears a white collar or a blue collar, I am a strong supporter of protecting the consumer and the public from fraud and predatory practices,” said Gov. Herbert in a statement Tuesday. “This bill helps us do that and I’m proud to sign it.”

Among the other bills the governor signed into law:

  • House Bill 94, the so-called “Right to Try” bill that gives terminally ill patients access to medications in clinical trials;
  • HB104, which allows people to “share” a cow for the purposes of milk;
  • HB261, which makes “horse tripping” a crime;
  • HB415, which places new restrictions on the sale and marketing of e-cigarettes.
