MURRAY, Utah - The Murray convenience store clerk who was shot during a robbery last week has died. Dave Marsh Murray clerk

The son of the Lee Mart owner confirmed 62-year-old Dave Marsh died from his injuries very early Monday morning.

The community has been rallying around the beloved store clerk since he was shot last Wednesday.

“This is just tough because you've just got, well, a person coming to work, and it’s horrible that he’s been put through this,” Murray Officer Kenny Bass said.

Surveillance video shows two suspects running into the store at about 5:30 a.m.

Both were dressed in dark clothing and wore bandannas over their faces.

According to police, they bludgeoned Marsh and then forced him to hand over all the money in the shop’s register.

Then the two men can be seen running out of the store.

But just before they leave, Marsh throws the till in their direction and the suspect shot Marsh in the side.

“He’s just one of the friends, you know? It’s tough to hear that,” regular customer Ted Maestas said.

Neighbors said Marsh has been working at the business long before its current owner, Sanh Ly, took over in 2004.

It’s the reason why so many said they continue shopping there, even if it’s a stop out of the way.

“My kids come here, I come here; he knows the customers that come in, he knows them by name,” neighbor Kim Watson said.

Officials said the suspects are still on the run.

Anyone with information about the suspects involved in the shooting is asked to contact the Murray Police Department at 801-840-4000.
