WEST HAVEN, Utah – A student was taken into custody Wednesday after bomb hoax forced the evacuation of a school in West Haven.

Lt. Lane Findlay of the  Weber County Sheriff’s Office said Quest Academy, which is a charter school at 4862 West 4000 South in West Haven, was evacuated Wednesday afternoon after a student found a note in the hallway that stated a bomb had been planted inside a locker. The student took the note to school officials, who called police.

The bomb squad searched the locker and found nothing, and a visual check of the school did not turn up any devices. Bomb sniffing dogs were still searching the school as of Wednesday evening.

Police questioned the student who uses the locker the note indicated the bomb was planted in, and they said that student’s writing matches the writing on the note. Police said they believe the note was a prank, and the student who allegedly penned the threat has been taken into custody and turned over to juvenile court.
