SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Avalanche Center has bumped the avalanche danger to moderate status.

Snow is now falling one to two inches per hour in the mountains with new snow avalanches going off, according to a tweet from the avalanche center Monday afternoon.

The avalanche danger started out in low condition conditions Monday but danger has increased throughout the day.

Officials said those out on the slopse should jump on small test slopes and regularly dig down to test how well the new snow is bonding and adjust terrain accordingly.

There were a few close calls last week.

Crews investigated a human-triggered slide off the road that separates the Park City Ridgeline from Big Cottonwood Canyon.

No one was injured.
