BOISE, Idaho — It was a game of runs at Taco Bell Arena, but, in the end, Utah State laughed last.
Murray product David Collette nailed a contested 3-point shot as time expired to lift the Aggies to a 62-61 win over Boise State.
USU opened up the game on an 8-0 run and led by 10 at the half before the Broncos worked their way back into the game. They took their first lead after scoring the first 12 points of the second half. Stew Morrill’s team would then go back up double digits before BSU used a late run. The Broncos got 31 points from Derrick Marks, including a couple of free throws to lead 60-59 with 1:03 left in the game.
Marks, however, missed the front end of a one-and-one with 13 seconds remaining to give Collette a chance to burn Boise at the buzzer. The Aggies have now won their last three and improve to 2-0 in the Mountain West. Chris Smith led USU with 15 points.
USU remains on the road, as they are scheduled to play next on January 9 at Fresno State. The game is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.
