MEMPHIS -- A Tennessee woman whose fiancé called off their wedding the week the event was scheduled decided she didn't want to sit around and be sad on her wedding day, so she took part in a "trash the dress" photo shoot instead.

Shelby Swink spoke to WHBQ in Memphis, saying her fiancé told her the week of their wedding he was considering calling it off. She thought it was just cold feet, but it wasn't.

"The next day came and he sat me down and was like, 'You know, I'm just not in love with you and I don't want to marry you, I don't want to spend the rest of my life with you,'" Swink said.

The bride-to-be said a friend encouraged her to trash her dress in a photo shoot on the big day, and Shelby said despite her initial hesitation she decided to go through with it.

"I don't want to just spend my would-be wedding day sitting at home alone eating ice cream and watching Netflix," she said.

So, surrounded by family and friends, Shelby used paint, feathers and glitter to give her dress new life. See the video above for the photo shoot and more of Sink's comments.
