FantasyCon announces change of venue, dates of 2016 event

SANDY, Utah -- FantasyCon made its debut in Salt Lake City earlier this year, and this week event organizers announced the convention will not occur in 2015 but will be back for 2016 with a new home and new highlights.

The con will take place June 2-4 at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy, as well as at the MegaPlex Jordon Commons and other locations in the city as the convention expands. The Charity Night of Dreams is set for June 1.

  • 3-story dragon, Volos, took over 2 years to create, and now FantasyCon plans to bring more
    one- of-a-kind creations including a 15 foot tall and 22 foot fountain featuring of a Viking ship being attacked by sea monster.
  • FantasyCon unveiled a taste of things to come with world renown fantasy artist, Annie Stegg’s 6-foot tall original masterwork entitled, Forest and Fairies. FantasyCon will again unveil several other masterwork art from around the world in 2016.
  • We are listening to our fans and FantasyCon will double the amount of live entertainment in
    2016. Scouting in several different countries for never seen before in Utah performances such as internationally known cirque artists.
  • Knights of Mayhem brings world famous competitive jousters from around the world exclusively for Utah for a never before seen tournament in FantasyCon’s live battle arena.
  • Fans asked for it, FantasyCon is bringing it. Billy Boyd will be once again joining the adventure as a celebrity guest and in addition FantasyCon will host a live concert with Bee Cake during the convention.
  • FIlmQuest Festival will continue the annual tradition in June 18-27, 2015 at the Sandy Jordon Commons. See attached FilmQuest Festival Press Release for more information. (Website here)
  • Promotional and Community Events for FantasyCon 2015 through 2016 includes:
    • Bleeding Heart Ball, February 13th, 2015 (ages 18+) to benefit the American Red Cross
      and The Heart Association
    • Literacy Through Fantasy program working with Salt Lake County Libraries to deliver
      books to children throughout Wasatch front to benefit Head Start and Boys and Girls
      Club foundations. This is an ongoing program with monthly events
