Third suspect arrested in connection with 2001 murder

SALT LAKE CITY – Police announced Wednesday they had made a third arrest in a homicide case from 2001.

According to information from the Salt Lake City Police Department, detectives secured a warrant and arrested Jeffry Henry Suarez in connection with the 2001 murder of Leonel Perales.

Perales was shot in the chest on September 28, 2001. Police stated Suarez is the third person to be arrested in the murder.

Suarez was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, and bail has been set at $1 million.

In November of 2013, police arrested Vincent James Thomas in connection with the murder after he was extradited from Wisconsin.
