WEBER COUNTY, Utah – A woman suffered serious injuries in an auto-pedestrian accident in Harrisville Thursday, and officials said it appears that both the driver and the pedestrian may have been under the influence of alcohol.
Chief Max Jackson of the Harrisville Police Department said the incident occurred at Harrisville Junction at 7:13 p.m. as a woman was crossing the intersection against a red light.
The 30-year-old woman was struck by a southbound pickup truck, which had a green light as it approached the intersection.
The woman suffered serious injuries, and officials said those injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
Jackson said investigators determined the driver of the truck had the scent of alcohol on his breath, and the man was arrested for DUI. Jackson said the man was arrested despite not being at fault in the auto-pedestrian crash.
Officers said they could smell alcohol on the victim, Jackson said.
The individuals involved have not been identified. FOX 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.
