SALT LAKE CITY - Salt Lake City's EVE Winter Festival is kicking off its sixth year downtown Monday.

This year's theme is "Warm Your Winter" and organizers said they hope Salt Lake gets more warm weather for the three-day event.

However, it doesn't look like that will happen.

They have planned plenty of activities to keep you warm while you ring in the New Year.

The fun runs from Dec. 29 to Dec. 31.

An all-access pass will allow you to see everything from live music to comedy acts.

Officials said the biggest and newest feature this year is the mirror ball which will help Utah count down to the New Year.

The mirror ball's designer said he's working to break a national record.

Another change, this year the musical performances will be indoors.

Three-day passes for adults at $20 and $15 for kids.

Pass holders will also have access to the Utah Jazz vs Minnesota Timberwolves game Dec. 30, with a lower bowl seat available to EVE ticket holders.

Information from EVE officials: EVE goers can experience a wide range of art exhibits, film screenings, comedy shows, live music, ice-skating, cultural performances and family programming throughout downtown. Venues with admission included in the EVE Pass are Clark Planetarium, Off Broadway Theatre, Broadway Centre Cinemas, Discovery Gateway, Gallivan Center Ice Skating and The Leonardo (Body Worlds exhibit is available as an upgrade). Temple Square, City Creek Center and UMOCA are always free, but will have extended hours and programming during EVE.

In its sixth year, EVE organizers have committed to continuing fan favorites from past EVE celebrations, most of which are designed to offer warm, indoor experiences at the Salt Palace. BounceTown, a “town” of inflatable houses children and kids at heart can play in, as well as the BallRoom, featuring a lasers, lights, upbeat music and beach balls and HoopDeDoo, where hula hoops glow-in-the-dark to create a unique user experience. New this year is the BrickYard, 400,000 Legos for hands-on building, as well as spectator opportunities with Master Builders.

The WinterFest stage lineup, also located indoors at the Salt Palace, showcases the best of Utah’s performance artists, including live music on New Years Eve, featuring headlining act Fictionist and supporting performances from Westward The Tide. Additionally, Afro-Brazilian troupe Samba Fogo, Zivio Ethnic Arts Ensemble and Children’s Theatre will offer performances all three nights. The Ski City DJ Plaza is the only outdoor performances this year, with fresh beats all three nights of EVE.

“Salt Lake City comes to life with EVE Winter Fest, a three-day celebration with concerts, DJs, grown-up drinks and engaging activities for kids and families,” Jason Mathis said, executive director for the Downtown Alliance. “EVE is unique to Utah. And it is unique for being the only community event sponsored by boththe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, as well As City Weekly and Squatters Brewery.”
