MIDVALE, Utah — A 13-year-old girl was taken to detention after crashing a car in Midvale early Saturday morning, according to Unified police.

At approximately 2:45 a.m., Unified police were called out to a report of a disturbance in the area of 8100 South block of Darin Street. While en-route to the scene, officers received a call that a vehicle had left from that address, said Justin Hoyal, spokesman for Unified police.

Hoyal said officers spotted the vehicle in the area and attempted to make a traffic stop but the driver fled.

The officer pursued a short time but since the chase did not meet all the criteria for a pursuit, it was terminated.

Two and half blocks away from where the officer ended the pursuit, the driver crashed into a parked vehicle at  1955 W. 7800 South, when she attempted to make a hard right turn, Hoyal said.

Hoyal said the four occupants of the vehicle got out and ran. Three of the four were caught, including the teen driver.

No serious injuries were reported.

The girl was taken to detention and booked on a charge of fleeing police.
