20-year-old woman dies after ejected from car in Layton crash

LAYTON, Utah — A 20-year-old woman is dead after she was ejected from her car in a single-vehicle accident Saturday night.

At approximately 9 p.m., the woman was traveling south on Interstate 15 in the far left lane just before Hill Field Road exit, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

According to UHP, the woman, driving a gray Mazda 3, left the roadway for an unknown reason and went into the dirt median.

The woman abruptly came back to the roadway, crossing all lanes of the Hill Field Road off ramp and over the west side embankment, according to UHP.

The vehicle came to rest on its top in the back parking lot of Hobby Lobby.

The woman was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car, resulting in fatal injuries. The victim was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The crash is still under investigation.
