VATICAN CITY — Hundreds of religious leaders and scholars representing a variety of faiths, including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are visiting the Vatican this week for a colloquium on marriage and family life.

“The Complementarity of Man and Woman: An International Colloquium is a gathering of leaders and scholars from many religions across the globe, to examine and propose anew the beauty of the relationship between the man and the woman, in order to support and reinvigorate marriage and family life for the flourishing of human society,” according to a statement on a website created for the event.

President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency of the LDS Church, is scheduled to address the gathering Tuesday.

Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Barbara, and Bishop Gérald Caussé of the Presiding Bishopric and his wife, Valérie, are accompanying President Eyring.
