This story sounds like one out of a movie.

A news photographer survived after being held at gunpoint and carjacked.

The astonishing pictures show an armed and barefoot man surrendering to a Seven News Australia cameraman.

He’d been on a motorcycle, then seized an opportunity and hijacked the news car and the whole thing was caught on video.

According to 7 News, the suspect was accused of attacking a woman.

The report states the suspect flagged down cameraman Peter Steer and appeared to surrender to the photojournalist.

Steer said, “He got off his bike and approached me and said, ‘I’ve got a story for you.’ I said, ‘Well mate, you better hurry because I’m going to a shooting,’ and he said, ‘Mate, I’m the shooter.'”

However, while they were waiting for police, the suspect changed his mind, pointed his gun at Steer and carjacked the 7 News vehicle.

It gets worse.

The suspect then crashed the news vehicle into a fuel tank at a gas station.

Authorities told 7 News they now believe the suspect’s gun was a replica.
