MIDVALE, Utah — A fight in Midvale between two teenagers ended with one of them being stabbed and the other on the run, and the victim was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. in the area of 47 East 7200 South, and Unified Police Department officials said a case worker had taken two teens to a counseling session. The teens began fighting as they walked to the case worker’s car following that session.

Officials said the 17-year-old suspect stabbed a 15-year-old victim multiple times after the fight before fleeing southbound on foot.

“Obviously this is a dangerous situation,” said Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department. “This individual, he stabbed one individual and then fled with a knife. But we do have several officers that are out searching for him. We’ll be searching for him throughout the night.”

Hoyal said the 15-year-old victim was taken to a hospital in serious condition with multiple stab wounds.

Officials believe the argument was gang related. Hoyal said the names of those involved are not being released, as both parties are juveniles.
