SANDY, Utah -- Real Salt Lake and the Los Angeles Galaxy played to a 0-0 tie in the first leg of the Western Conference Semifinal at Rio Tinto Stadium Saturday.

They’ll take that score to the second leg of this series on November 9 in L.A.

RSL had plenty of chances to score, with 16 shots and six on goal, but they could not find the back of the net. Galaxy didn’t have very many good scoring chances. They had just one shot on goal.

The away-goal rule is in play this year in the MLS playoffs. A goal on the road is what determines a tie, so not giving up a goal was big for RSL heading into the second leg.

“Of course we would like to be 2-0 up, but whatever,” said Kyle Beckerman. “We’ll get to work this week and see if we can go to L.A. in some nice weather and kick their you-know-what.”
