DAVIS COUNTY, Utah – Two people were injured in a 6-vehicle crash on southbound I-15 Thursday night, and the crash involved two buses from Weber State University.

Sgt. Todd Royce of the Utah Highway Patrol said a car lost control while traveling southbound on I-15 near Parrish Lane and hit a concrete barrier on the side of the freeway.

The car bounced back into traffic after hitting the barrier and caused a chain reaction as cars and buses collided in an attempt to avoid hitting the original car that lost control.

The crash occurred around 8:15 p.m., and three lanes of traffic were closed as officials investigated the crash scene. Officials said speed and following distance may have been factors in the crash.

Two of the people in the car that originally lost control suffered broken legs, and the third person suffered minor injuries. All three were transported to a hospital for treatment.

An official with Weber State University tells FOX 13 News the students on the buses were part of a fraternity or sorority trip to a haunted house event in Salt Lake City. He confirmed that none of the students on the buses were injured.
