SALT LAKE COUNTY -- Search and rescue crews responded to a request for help from two hikers who became lost and stuck on a cliff in Little Cottonwood Canyon Sunday, and a helicopter with infrared was called in to help locate the two men.

The pair called police to report they were stuck in the Lisa Falls area of the canyon, and officials said they had been in contact via cell phone and know which general area the hikers are in.

Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department said the hikers are two males in their 20s. He said their cell phone later died, so rescuers were no longer in contact with them.

A helicopter equipped with infrared was able to locate the hikers, and crews will next work to get the pair safely off the cliff.

FOX 13 News will have more information as it becomes available.
