Thousands race past red rocks of southern Utah during St. George Marathon

ST. GEORGE, Utah – It’s arguably one of the most scenic marathons in the country, and around 7,000 runners raced through southern Utah Saturday for the St. George Marathon.

Runners from 21 different countries and 48 different states were there, running through the southern Utah scenery and into the heart of downtown St. George.

Organizers said it’s a relatively easy and fast marathon to run, and participants agree that it’s enjoyable.

“It was a little warm, but always a great race–we love St. George,” one participant said.

Other racers agreed: “The whole place is beautiful, and I love the start and the end… Everything about it is just really, really special.”

This is the 38th year the city has hosted the marathon.

According to a list of results linked to on the marathon’s website, the fastest male runner, Aaron J. Metler of St. George, completed the race with a time of 2:19:06. The fastest female runner, Amber Green of St. George, finished with a time of 2:43:28.
