SPRINGVILLE, Utah – Authorities are trying to determine what caused the deaths of five people, all members of the same family, whose bodies were found inside their Springville home Saturday evening.

According to the Springville Department of Public Safety, a person who had not heard from several relatives went to check on them and discovered the bodies inside the home near 900 South and 1000 East. at about 8 p.m.

“We are investigating the deaths of a family of five," said Lt. Dave Caron of the Springville Police Department.

Caron said the victims are a 14-year-old boy, a 12-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy and their parents--both of whom are in their mid-to-late 30s.

Officials stated in a press release they first made sure it was safe to enter the home to conduct an investigation. They stated, “At this point there is little information to release.”

The cause of the death is unknown, though officials stated they don’t believe there is any danger to the neighbors or community.

“We don’t see any obvious signs of what could have caused the death… we looked into the possibility it may have been carbon monoxide, but we just don't know at this point," Caron said.

The names of the deceased have not yet been released.
