SALT LAKE CITY — A state senator who sought a criminal investigation into the Utah Transit Authority has dropped his demand.

Sen. Todd Weiler, R-Woods Cross, said he met with representatives from UTA for two hours recently.

“They answered my questions,” he said in a message to FOX 13’s Ben Winslow. “I still think there are problems, but am not convinced that any crimes were committed.”

Weiler had sought a meeting with Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes after a damning audit of UTA’s business practices, salaries and bonuses. Recently, state lawmakers announced they would seek another audit of the transit authority.
