UTAH COUNTY -- Three people are serious to critical condition after colliding with a truck pulling a horse trailer on Interstate 15 in Utah County Sunday afternoon, and one of three horses in the trailer had to be put down.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., three individuals in a passenger car were traveling south on I-15 near Pleasant Grove when the driver lost control of the vehicle, Utah Highway Patrol officials say.

The passenger car spun out and was t-boned by a truck pulling a horse trailer, according to UHP.

The victims in the passenger car were all transported to area hospitals with injuries varying from serious to critical.

Officials say no one from the truck received serious injuries. Two of the horses were OK but officials said the third had to be put down.

Three lanes of traffic were blocked as crews investigated the accident. Officials said they believe weather may have contributed to the crash. The freeway was fully opened by 1:30 p.m.
