SALT LAKE CITY - Mayor Ben McAdams is giving Salt Lake a new name, "Ski City USA."

Mayor McAdams wants to make sure the rest of the world knows what locals know; that Utah is the only place in the nation that provides four world-class winter resorts with 500 inches of the "Greatest Snow on Earth" per year, just minutes from the airport and downtown SLC.

The mayor, along with Visit Salt Lake and four Cottonwood resorts, said, "Once you’ve stayed in Ski City, you’ll never stay in a ski town.

The group asked the question, what if someone built an entire city just for skiers and snowboarders?

Mayor McAdams said Utah already did, Ski City USA.

“Ski City USA is a fantastic alternative to the traditional ski or snowboard experience where visitors are restricted by the limited offerings of a small resort town,” Mayor McAdams said. “Whether you live in Salt Lake or you live thousands of miles away, you can become a virtual resident of Ski City USA through social portals, joining a community united in being ‘locals’ of Ski City USA.”
