WEST JORDAN, Utah – The girls of Copper Hills High School’s soccer team came together Thursday in honor of one of their teammates, who was flown to a hospital in critical condition Wednesday night.

Mia Poulsen remains in critical condition Thursday. Around the Salt Lake valley, friends of Mia as well as strangers joined in to show their support for the injured teen.

Many played in soccer games with “Mia” or “Mia #9” painted on their legs or faces, and players said they played their hearts out with their friend in mind. The hashtag #PrayforMia has also been in use on Twitter as another show of support for the teen.

Megan Rons plays soccer with Mia on Copper Hills High School’s team, and she spoke about her friend.

"Mia is a sassy little diva face, and I love her to death, and she's the most passionate person about soccer that I've ever known," she said.

McKenzie Safford, another teammate, said the support has gone beyond the team at their school.

"We have a heart here at Copper Hills, I'm so excited schools around the valley, the state now, are supporting Mia,” she said. “They truly care about her and want her to get better.”
