NEW YORK – The iPhone 6 hasn’t even been released yet and there’s already a way to get it for free.

In an unusual move, Verizon Wireless announced that it would give away one of the phones Apple revealed on Tuesday afternoon.

The catch? Customers must turn in their old iPhone and sign a two-year agreement with Verizon.

Carriers usually offer a discount on phones to customers who sign a service contract and sometimes will offer older versions for free.

However, it is rare for a carrier to offer the latest model at no charge.

Those who redeem the iPhone 6 offer will have to trade in their old model and receive a gift card for $200, which is then used to buy the new phone.

Verizon did not say how long the offer would stand.

Officials say they will accept used iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C as long as the device still works, however, older models may not be worth the full $200 so you might have to pitch in a few bucks.

Customers will receive the 16 GB version of the iPhone 6.

However, experts say it may not be the best deal, depending on your specific phone.

The iPhone 5S can sell for $300 on some trade-in sites.

The iPhone 6 will be sold for $199 with a 2-year agreement.

Check with Verizon to see if you qualify.
