WEBER COUNTY, Utah — A Clearfield woman is dead after crashing the bullet bike she was riding near Huntsville Monday afternoon, according to police officials.

At approximately 12:13 p.m., a group of motorcyclists were traveling north on Utah State Route Road 167, also known as Trappers Loop Road, when one of the members of the group fell behind, said Sgt. Lane Findlay, spokesman for the Weber County Sheriff’s Department.

The 28-year-old woman sped to high speeds, weaving around traffic in an attempt to catch up with the group, Findlay said.

The woman crashed while taking a turn near mile marker 8.7 at a high rate of speed. She was transported to an area hospital where she later died.

Findlay said the victim was wearing a helmet and a motorcycle jacket.

Trappers Loop Road was closed due to the accident and reopened at about 2:55 p.m.

The woman’s name has not been released at this point pending notification of family.
