CLINTON, Utah – Officials warned residents in Clinton to take precautions regarding the city’s water Wednesday after a sample tested positive for E-coli, and on Thursday officials said the warning remains in place but for a different reason.

Wednesday’s warning did not indicate the water was definitely contaminated, just that it could be. Officials said customers, “should assume the water is unsafe to drink and take the appropriate precautions.”

Officials stated Friday the latest water tests “were good” but said the County Health Department advised them to keep the warning advisory in place due to chlorine levels. Officials said they have added chlorine to the water supply and will lift the warning advisory once the supply has a higher level of chlorine residual.

Officials said they hope to lift the warning advisory by Thursday night or Friday morning. More information will be available at Clinton’s website as it becomes available.
