SALT LAKE CITY – A man convicted of killing a Westminster student in a fiery DUI crash in 2011 is scheduled to be sentenced Monday.
Shane Gillette crashed his truck into the back of 26-year-old Julie Jorgenson’s car on Jan. 6, 2011.
Police say he was going upwards of 70 mph when he ran into her.
Jorgensen’s car burst into flames and the woman was killed on impact.
Police also say Gillette was driving under the influence of marijuana and had windows frosted over, making it nearly impossible to see.
Gillette was tried for manslaughter and possession of drug paraphernalia
