SALT LAKE CITY – A new summer market made its debut at The Gateway Sunday, and event organizers said the event will be held again on the last Sunday of the month in August and September.

The Summer Sunday Market Series at The Gateway is the result of a partnership between the Gateway Shopping Center and The Downtown Alliance, and it runs from noon to 4 p.m.

The market features musical entertainment, brunch specials, arts and crafts vendors and other family activities, according to a press release from event organizers.

“With attractions like the Megaplex, The Depot concert venue, and the IMAX Theatre, The Gateway has always been a great place for family fun,” stated Bryan Hill, general manager of The Gateway, in a press release. “We hope The Summer Sunday Market series gives residents a chance to experience all The Gateway has to offer while also supporting local vendors and artisans in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.”

La Jolla Groves will host a Bloody Mary Bar beginning at 11 a.m., and various restaurants at the shopping complex will feature brunch specials.

Jason Mathis, executive director for The Downtown Alliance, said they were thrilled about the market.

“We are excited to be partnering with The Gateway for these Summer Sunday Markets,” Mathis said. “We’ve seen the tremendous success of the Farmers Market at Pioneer Park on Saturdays, and wanted to bring a similar experience to Salt Lake City residents on Sunday.”

The market will be held on the last Sunday of August and September (the 31st and 28th respectively) from noon to 4 p.m. According to the press release, special vendors and entertainment will be concentrated along the south side of Rio Grande Street as well as down Entertainment Alley.
