STOCKTON, Utah — Stockton city residents are cleared to use and drink the town’s water supply again after several days without access to the water due to contamination caused by a fire, but outside watering is not being permitted due to a decrease in supply.

The fire is believed to be a case of arson, click here for details.

According to a press release from Tooele County officials, the water is safe to drink as of Saturday afternoon but residents are not allowed to do any outside watering–as the town’s supply has been reduced.

“Confirmation samples came back today giving the all clear for citizens to use their water,” Mayor Mark Whitney stated in the press release. “We are going to have some challenges with allowing outside use. We have lost half of total water holding capacity. We are running off of one of our two holding tanks due to the other being damaged by the fire.”

Officials stated in the release they would be working with residents to manage their outside watering needs.
