PROVO, Utah — A Brigham Young University student accused sexually assaulting more than a dozen women on or near the school’s campus was in court Thursday.

Nathan Fletcher, 23, was charged with two counts of sexual battery and could spend up to a year in jail for each count if convicted.

Police at BYU identified Fletcher as the suspect using video surveillance and based on the identification by the alleged victims.

Fletcher spoke to FOX 13 News Thursday.

“I was working three jobs,” he said. “I was volunteering three places. I was attending BYU full-time and now I can’t go to school. I can’t work at any of my jobs. I can’t volunteer at any of those places any more. I wasn’t able to attend my wife’s graduation. I lost a whole semester. Wasn’t able to go to finals week, been banned from campus. I pretty much stay at home with my family. I can’t do anything anymore. So it’s been pretty rough for us and my family.”

Fletcher maintains he hasn’t done anything wrong. A judge has set a preliminary hearing to be held in August, during which it will be determined if there is enough evidence to take the case to trial.
