SALT LAKE CITY –A standoff on Interstate 15 has ended without incident after a man barricaded in a motor home turned himself over Saturday morning, according to police.

The incident started at approximately 5 a.m. in Davis County when Sunset Police attempted to stop the man driving a reported stolen RV, said Lt. Jeff Nigbur with Utah Highway Patrol.

Davis County Sheriff’s Office got involved in the chase as the suspect went onto I-15 southbound. Two attempts were made to spike the suspect’s tires but were unsuccessful, Nigbur said.

UHP was able to successfully spike the front tires of the RV near the 5300 South exit. The freeway was closed during the standoff.

SWAT was called out to the scene where the occupant of the motor home had mattresses pushed up against the windows, Nigbur said.

The suspect did come out of the RV and the incident was resolved peacefully. The freeway was reopened shortly after.

Police later identified the suspect as 32-year-old Blake Morrow.
