OGDEN, Utah – About 250 people have been evacuated from a bakery and an adjacent building due to a natural gas leak in Ogden Wednesday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Ogden City Fire Department, the leak is at Lofthouse, a bakery located at 215 N. 700 West.

A construction company modifying a sewer line in the area struck a 4-inch gas line, according to the press release, and Lofthouse and one additional building was evacuated.

Air monitoring in the buildings showed low levels of natural gas that were not within the explosive limit, and the release stated that the buildings were being ventilated. Crews from Questar Gas were on scene to repair the line.

Officials stated in the release that after the line was repaired, fire crews would conduct air monitoring in the buildings nearby to ensure natural gas is not present before employees are allowed back inside.

Officials said two engines, one ladder truck and various personnel responded to the scene. There were no injuries or medical complaints reported.
