3 suspects arrested in gang-related South Salt Lake shooting, facing murder charges

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah – Police have three suspects in custody for the gang-related South Salt Lake shooting that killed one man.

Authorities found two of the suspects in West Valley City Thursday; 20-year-old Irving Nunez and 19-year-old Irvin Esequel Munoz.

The third suspect, 19-year-old Ernesto Navarro, was arrested in South Salt Lake.

All three men are facing aggravated murder charges.

According to South Salt Lake City Police, 40-year-old Francisco Antonio Colon of West Valley City, was found dead in the driver’s seat of a car at 109 E. Helm Ave.

A second victim, the front-seat passenger, was also injured in the shooting.

The 17-year-old West Valley City resident was shot twice in the arm and torso, police said.

The teen was treated at a local hospital and released.

Police said the name of the juvenile victim will not be released.

Authorities said four men and two women were in the car at the time of the shooting.

Their ages ranged from 13 to 19.

Police said multiple shots were fired at the vehicle.
