TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a man who was allegedly involved in an aggravated domestic assault early Saturday.

The incident started in Magna and led officers to a police standoff in Taylorsville, according to officials with the Unified Police Department.

Police said the domestic dispute happened in Magna at 3825 S. 8000 West, where Gustavo Samaniego, 32, threatened his step-daughter with a handgun and was also looking for her mother.

Samaniego left before police were called to the scene, and officers searched for the man at other locations he frequently visited.

Tips from the public brought police to the Taylorsville home, located at 3528 West Ridgecrest Drive.

Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, believing he was inside the residence. It was later discovered Samaniego was not there after several people came out of the house to be interviewed.

Anyone with information on Gustavo Samaniego’s whereabouts has been asked to call Unified Police at 801-743-7000.
