SALT LAKE CITY – Crews will begin work on a construction project along a busy commuter route in Salt Lake City Monday.

Officials said they will be tearing up and replacing concrete on 1300 South between State Street and 400 West, and crews will also be improving driveway approaches, replacing curbs and improving pedestrian crossings.

“The 1300 South roadway is a significant thoroughfare in Salt Lake City,” stated John Coyle, Right-of-Way Manager for Salt Lake City’s Engineering Division, in a press release. “While we have provided maintenance over the years, it is now time to reconstruct the road completely.”

Officials stated much of the work would be done at night and they said one lane of traffic will be maintained during the project for each direction of travel. Officials said those who use the route should expect delays and look for alternative routes.

According to the city’s website, the work is expected to take about 120 days to complete. Information about the project and a map of possible alternate routes are available from Salt Lake City by clicking here.
